Unique look for 2022 Ford Ranger Raptor Special Edition

Ford’s off-road focussed Ranger Raptor pick-up truck will soon be available as a Special Edition model. With limited numbers planned to ‘ensure exclusivity’, this version will get exterior styling changes to make it even more head-turning. Pricing has yet to be announced, but it’s certainly going to cost more than the £50,666 (including VAT) price tag of the standard vehicle which it arrives here in the autumn.

Developed by Ford Performance, the Raptor Special Edition has two matte black racing stripes, with red contrasting edges, that span its bonnet, roof, tailgate and the Raptor’s flanks. It will still be available in Performance Blue, Conquer Grey and Frozen White body colours. The ‘Ford’ embossed grille, flared wheel arches, bumpers and door handles are finished in matte black for a more aggressive look, while the front tow hooks are painted red, in keeping with the competition theme.

Inside, the upgraded version gets leather upholstery as standard, along with exclusive red stitching for the instrument panel, steering wheel and door trims. The Special Edition also gets a unique Raceway Grey instrument panel, while standard features include an eight-inch infotainment display.

Mechanically, the Ranger Raptor Special Edition is unchanged, with the same 211bhp 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine, boasting an impressive 369lb ft of torque and a 10-speed automatic gearbox. What really sets the Ranger Raptor Special Edition apart, though, is its 150mm widened track and 51mm increased ride height, Fox suspension and General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres.

“The new Ranger Raptor Special Edition adds even more dramatic style, with unique exterior touches and cabin enhancements that make our off-road performance pick-up even more distinctive and desirable,” said Stefan Muenzinger, manager, Ford Performance.
