Could Jaguar return to Le Mans?

Jaguar World’s sister title, Motorsport News, has reported Jaguar could be considering a return to Le Mans following a restructure of its motorsport operations.

In recent years, the Tata-owned firm has been active in the FIA Formula E Championship and Jaguar Racing’s team boss, James Barclay, has been appointed as managing director of motorsport for the Jaguar Land Rover group. He recently told The Race website, “Our new CEO, Thierry [Bolloré], and I had a conversation around structuring motorsport, to make sure it really sits across the organisation.”

Jaguar of course has a huge history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, winning seven times. New LeMans Hydrogen-Electric regulations are thought to be of interest to JLR.

“A really important part of my role is to make sure we’re monitoring the development in the sport,” added Barclay. “We’re committed to Formula E. But it’s important that we also look at other opportunities that could happen.”
